It was Saturday night at the Living Word International Conference in July. I had just finished speaking and called people forward for ministry.
Frank and his wife who I knew well responded. I was surprised to see him on crutches and he explained that he had suffered some major cartiledge damage in his knee, which was causing great pain. Of course I lay hands on his leg and prayed for healing. At that moment nothing changed and Frank hobbled back to his seat and I carried on praying for others.
The next morning he came in and walked straight up to me. He had woken up that morning perfectly healed. It was the first time in ages that he had not been in excruciating pain. Together we gave God all the glory and I was so pleased because Frank drives taxis and so it greatly affected his livelihood. God is so good.
So yes it has been a great few months in ministry. I spoke at the LWIC conference on Courageous love, standing up for the kingdpom against all the devil would do to diminish love on the earth. It was an excellent time for all the speakers and congregation alike
At the beginning of August I spoke on the Authority of the Believer at my own local church.
I especially used the passgage in Luke with the Centurions servant. He was under authority and had soldiers under him. As he related that to Jesus he clearly recognised who Jesus was. Jesus was under His Father’s authority and carrying authority over the devil and all kinds of sickness and disease. We have that same authority under Jesus and we need to constantly walk in it and bring kingdom authority to the world.
Finally, Julie and I have just returned from a ministry trip to Prenzlau in the old East of Germany. We were there to renew friendships with Matthias and Gabi Schmoecker and some other leaders in the area. I preached on the Sunday on inclusive grace and challenged his congregation to think if they were excluding people in the world when Jesus opened His circle of love to include them.
However I felt the most significant time was in the many discussions we had about their ministry and hopes and plans for the future. In that part of the world church leaders can easily feel isolated. We spent much time helping and listening. At times this included advice, suggestions and most of all much laughter, which they needed.
I am excited about their dreams and am watching keenly for what God will do.
A friend recently said this was part of my true kingdom calling and I am sure it is. I enjoy spending time with leaders. Too often they are alone with little support. I have always seen the importance of building strategic relationships so that together we work to see the kingdom flourish. I know we will be back there shortly and good things will come.
