How to be a Miracle //
Everyone today is looking for God to do miracles. However the Lord’s encounter with Gideon in Judges 6 challenges us to be the miracle. Let me explain how.
Judges 6:11 expounds this meeting and begins by God calling him a mighty man of valour. Now Gideon has a hard time with that as he is hiding while trying to thresh out wheat.
Gideon confronts the Lord because he is desirous of a miracle to save Israel and he has not seen it yet(verse 13). You know that is a normal response of so many in the body of Christ. We want God just to zap the situation and everything will be alright.
The Lord then challenges Gideon to go himself in the might he is carrying and save Israel. In other words He is calling Gideon to be the miracle because God has sent him. Furthermore the Lord promises to be with him. His power and His strength in Gideon.
Gideon at that point did not know fully who he was dealing with and asked for a sign.Remember the Holy Spirit was not inside him as he is with us. Once he gets the confirmation the strength within Gideon then begins to manifest.
There are a few things here we must walk with. First Philippians 4:13 says “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”.
Then the key to Gideon’s success was this. He did something. That is the real key to the miraculous operating in our life. We can pray for strength and seek a sign but then we have to go do it and fulfil our kingdom destiny.
Gideon started small. It took 10 men and the cover of darkness but he cut down the altar of Baal and made a sacrifice to the Lord.
After the Lord had established his obedience then He gave him a huge task that was beyond his strength. Defeating the Midianite army. So unless your task is greater than your strength there is no room for God’s strength to kick in.
Most people see the enormity of the task and cut the task. Instead we need to see the enormity of God and the gap in the task as miracle space and a faith opportunity.
Always if we do the former we will lose strength. Gideon realised he had no strength for it so he called on God.
In verse 36-40 we tend to think this was a weakeners in Gideon but in reality he was testing out the power of God and he got the answer that encouraged him to go forward..
When your task is bigger than you then you step into miracle territory. So instead of backing off push forward..
Do you realise that makes you a miracle candidate. You can do all things through Christ. Not through you. We need God’s strength. That miracle comes through Him. However we have to be doing. Great men and women of God are doers.
Finally you will get strength not to do the task but in the task i.e. by doing it. The best example of that is with exercising using weights. You start small then as strength comes you add to the weight and find yourself more able. If you add more God will give you more. As you do things will happen.
In conclusion
Don’t pray to do miracles, just be one!!
